the young ceo experience
The Young CEO Experience
The Young CEO Experience Begins with:
1. The Young CEO Summer Entrepreneurship Camp
2.The Young CEOs Business Plan Competition
3. The Young CEOs Pop-Up-Shops
1. THE YOUNG CEO SUMMER ENTREPRENEURSHIP CAMP
This 2-week summer camp started in 2019 by the founder Norma Lynn Brown. During the camp young people in grades 4-12 and ages 17-25 are inspired to create a business plan for a business according to their passion. Some students may already have a business but the majority of them have no idea until they attend the camp. During the camp they are taught basic business concepts and how to put the concepts into a business plan. The 17-25 age group is very limited and taught separately to participate in the competition.
To ensure that no child does not have access to this opportunity because of finances, this camp is AT NO COST to the families!!!! This is made possible through generous donations from the community, grants, business and community sponsorships and partnerships. Because of the Sponsorships, during the camp the students are provided with breakfast, lunch, and snacks, laptops, transportation, professional and expert coaches, supplies for pop-up shops and much more to make it a complete Young CEO Experience.
2. THE YOUNG CEO BUSINESS PLAN COMPETITION
After the 2-week camp the Young CEOs have completed their business plans and now after much planning, practicing and preparations they are now ready to present their business plans to a panel of judges and to an in-person and virtual audience through a media presentation.
At the end of the two weeks, students share their business plans in a Young CEO Business Plan Pitch Competition. There are 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners for each group. However, ALL the Young CEOs receive start-up seed money check to continue their Young CEO Experience.!!!!! After the competition is over the Young CEOs are now official members of the Young CEO Next Level Club™. This club will allow them to continue to meet year round to collaborate with other Young CEOs and most importantly the community and business mentors. Please use the Young CEOs Next Level Club tab to find out more information.
3. THE YOUNG CEO POP-UP- SHOPS
Immediately after the business competition, the students present their products and services to the audience and to the public in their very first Young CEO Pop-Up- Shop. The students have an opportunity to sell their products and services to start creating financial wealth while using their soft skills. However another benefit is that the community have an opportunity to come and support and meet the Next Generation of Young CEOs and Leaders.
CAMP WANZA- Charleston, South Carolina
In addition to the camp held in the greater Columbia, South Carolina area, Norma Brown also conducts an additional summer camp is held in Charleston, South Carolina called Camp Wanza. Camp Wanza was started in memory of Tywanza Sanders, a young man who was murdered in the Emanuel 9 Church Shooting. He was known as an amazing entrepreneur before his death.

YOUNG CEO EXPERIENCE CONTINUES..........
THE YOUNG CEO EXPERIENCE ™ CONTINUES BEYOND THE CAMPS AND THE BOOKS
After teaching over 35 years and conducting Young CEO Summer Camps for 9 years Mrs. Brown realized that in order for them to become successful Young CEOs in their business and personal lives they would need additional resources, opportunities and exposure to new concepts. Therefore, using her over 40 years of experience in Youth Entrepreneurship she created her own curriculum and program called the Young CEO Experience: beyond the books.
This is an invitation only program for Young CEO members of the Young CEO Next Club that have show a strong interest not only in business management but also in strong leadership, community service and the ability to work with their peers and adults. This after school year-round program will include mentorship, post-secondary and career planning, personal and business finance, business management, community service and leadership training and so much more. The Young CEOs in this program will be the officers for the Young CEO Next Level Club. The mentorship component will be divided into business pods. Please see the list of business pods below
2 MAJOR COMPONENTS OF THE YOUNG CEO EXPERIENCE ™
1. Parents of Young CEOs Program-
In order for the student to be accepted into the program a parent or guardian must commit to being a part of the Parents of Young CEOs program that will help them to support parents who have young people in the Journey program and in the Young CEO Next Level Club. 2. Young CEO Next Level Club ™ - All Young CEOs who have completed their business plans and have presented their plans to judges and the audience to become members of the Young CEO Next Level Club are eligible to participate in the Next Level Club to continue their Young CEO experience.
